Teasing: Heartbroken Mom

by Mom
(Annapolis, MD)

My heart breaks for my ginger-haired little boy with his brightly colored glasses he was so proud of when he picked them out. The name-calling causes his tenderheartedness to turn to anger and temper problems with other kids - causing them to reject him more. I'm giving him more and more unconditional love at home and hope this will pass. I will also read him these comments pages to know he is not alone.

For your very kind words. My little guy is seven - we have a long way to go and I sure hope we give him the love and self esteem he needs to withstand it all. This web page is wonderful. I will get that book!! HM, Annapolis

Not alone!
by: Deb

Reply by Deb at RR: Thanks mom for writing in about your precious little guy. I wept and got angry when I read about what he's going through, and I just pray for you and your family as you guys figure out how to get through this difficult season. Been there and it just hurts our hearts as moms and wanting to spare them all that stuff. You didn't state his age, but I agree you are doing the right thing by just loving him and letting him know he is definitely NOT alone. Plus let him know he is NOT what or who those kids say. I hope anyone who's said unkind things will read these pages as well...

Yes, I DO hope the "Advice" on the site from other redheads helps and the other "Teasing" pages too. Also check out the "Famous Redheads" pages to show he's in good company and in a special club no one else gets to be in! If your son is 10 or younger, he might also enjoy the cute book "Little Redheads Across America" by Nicole Giladi -- it has tons of photos of other redhead kids he might enjoy seeing. Read my interview with the author on my "Interviews" web page or go directly (http://www.raising-redheads.com/interview-nicole-giladi.html).

Also, if you believe in the power of prayer, please also check out my "Prayer Stuff" navbar page -- I can't tell you how much this helped and comforted me as well. Thanks for sharing your story and I keep you in my thoughts as well...
