Skin Types For Your Face

DO YOU KNOW
ABOUT SKIN TYPES?

Red Question Mark

Before you decide which skin products and cosmetics to use, it helps to know what type of facial skin you have. It's one of those makeup tips that pays off later, and this isn't just for red heads.

These are based on the amount of OIL your skin produces, which can change as you age.

There are basically 5 SKIN TYPES (depending on who you talk to).
(Many people are a blend of several of these skin categories.)
They are......

Letter A

OILY: Large pores. Shiny when wake up in the morning, especially in the T-zone. Prone to blemishes, whiteheads, pimples, and blackheads. Feels oily. Your foundation may wear off after only a few hours or so. (Your skin produces too much sebum, or oil.)

Letter A

DRY: Feels itchy or tight, especially after cleaning your face. May have small pores. Sensitive to sun, wind, cold. May have flaky red patches. Fine wrinkles. Maybe went through adolescence without acne. Skin looks dull. (Your skin does not produce enough sebum, or oil, and not enough skin moisture.)

Letter A

COMBINATION or NORMAL: Most people have combination skin, about 70%. You have dry skin in some places and oily skin in others. Medium pores. Good circulation with a healthy color and even smooth skin texture. Because there are more oil glands in the T-zone and at the edges of your fact, it’s typically oily or pimply there but then have dry skin on cheeks. Skin products may be great on one part and bad in another part.

Letter A

SENSITIVE: May have fine pores. Thin delicate skin that may have broken capillaries just below the surface of the skin. Get negative reactions to sun or wind. Easily irritated, blotchy, red, or sunburned. Often allergic or rashy to ordinary skin products like burning or itching. Also reactions from scrubbing your skin too briskly. (This can happen to anyone at one point or another.) Use gentle products for sensitive skin (hypoallergenic) and don't cleanse your skin more than twice a day.

Letter A

AGING: Is sun damaged with a leather-like texture. Feels tight, yet skin tone poor in some areas.

Red T

Then there's the "T ZONE" --- what is this?......
It's the T-shaped area on the face that includes the forehead, nose and chin that tends to be oilier.

What influences oil production of your skin?
-- Diet
-- Genes
-- Medications
-- Stress level
-- Your environment (humid, dry, polluted)
-- If you smoke
-- If you drink alcohol
-- Changing hormone levels
-- Skin care routine
