shy redhead

As a teenager people treated me differently. I was teased and jokes were made. I grew up very shy and quiet, not a fiery redhead. I think being teased made me more shy. It didn't help that I'm left-handed and short. I was teased for that too. The few times I get upset the red hair is blamed. I admit I am stubborn and once angry slow to cool down. As an adult I embrace the red hair. My hair got dark after I had a child so I now dye it red. I like being unique. Blonde and brunette is boring.

Reply by Deb at RR: Hi Ann -- thanks for telling about your experiences growing up. I can see how the teasing and being left-handed and shorter would affect how you felt about yourself. I know the left-handedness alone can make a difference, as I have a close family member who is left-handed and was teased and always notices others who are left-handed!... I guess similar to redheads or anyone who is 'different' than others... I personally think the diversity is wonderful... because it would be so boring if we are all the same and not a reason to criticize. I'm so glad you've embraced who you are and your red hair and everything about you... Thanks for sharing!
