Redhead with a blues soul

by Bob Presnell
(Buena Vista, VA)

I was an orange/redhead from the get go, but at 60 my kids call me dream-sickle because of the white mixing with the red. I got teased a lot until I got to be 15 and strong enough to just about take any verbalized or physical abuse. I've noticed that most people really notice your hair when they first meet you, but after a little while you are just like everyone else. You have your own personality and that is what people will remember you by.

I think most red-haired people are very unique in their own way. The red-haired temper probably comes from all the teasing. God made red-heads and we may be different, but we are one of God's remarkable creations. I have been a guitarist for 53 years and play almost anything with strings. I've been told that I have a lot of soul by a lot of my friends. Yes! I love blues music! I'm no different than anyone else only RED-HAIRED!

Hi Bob. Really enjoyed reading your comments about teasing and how people notice us. Never really thought about it I guess, but I agree that we initially notice differences in others and then later it IS our personality that matters. Great insight and advice. Enjoyed hearing about your music career as well and passion for blues and the guitar is obvious. It's wonderful that you've been able to do something you love for so many years! Again, thanks for sharing and, yes, as a blessed mom of 2 redheads I DO agree that redheads are one of God's 'remarkable' creations! :)

(By the way, I have an "Interviews" section and if interested in doing one, please let me know via my "Contact Me" page and I'll tell you more.)
