This website is about redheads, so of course I had to include red horses as part of my animal kingdom 'honorary redheads.'
Even though I grew up in the city, I love seeing horses. ...All colors....There’s just something gentle and strong about horses and I love their faces.
Fortunately, our red-head daughters had the opportunity to ride a bit as they grew up. This lovely horse belonged to a friend who graciously let our redhead get some horse time in.
Plus, I feel blessed to have ridden some in my younger days, Western and English, during our travels here and there. We collected a few horse toys too.
So...The SHADES?? The shades vary and include copper-red, reddish-gold, reddish-brown, reddish-blonde, or even dark burgundy or mahogany. Names for these different shades include chestnut, red roan, sorrels, roan, palominos, and others.

This awesome horse is 'Frankie' and is a rare red Shire. Frankie is the son of National Champion Shire Stallion, "Titan." (Riding Frankie is his owner, Brenda, a wonderful bronze sculpture artist in southern Colorado at www.benbronze.com).
'Frankie' again back in May 2006. He weighs over 2400 pounds and is over 18 hands high!
