-- SOME RED BEARD TRIVIA --
'Red Beard' - (in Japanese is 'Akahige') This is a 1965 Japanese movie by famed director Akira Kurosawa about a town doctor (starring Toshiro Mifune who plays Dr. Kyojō Niide, 'Akahige') and his post-graduate trainee. It was Kurosawa's last black and white film and also the last of 16 films in which actor Mifune worked with Kuraosawa. On DVD and VHS.
‘Redbeard’ (French: Barbe-Rouge) Belgian comic book series by Victor Huginon and Jean-Michel Charlier. Later had a parody done by the comic serics ‘Asterix’. Apparently, this character was an American pirate who sought his fortune roaming the 7 seas. Later became TV series in the late 1990s shown in Europe and America. (not real image)
LEGO pirate -- with the same name, part of LEGO pirate ship set. This ginger-bearded figure has a peg leg, eye patch, hook for a hand, carries a sword, and wears a black pirate hat.
'Barbarossa' (means 'reddish beard')- movie title of 1982 cowboy film by Australian director Fred Schepisi starring redhead country singer Willie Nelson (read more on my redhead "Singers" pages. There's also a famous leader with this name (See my "Famous Leaders" page!)
'Barbarossa' Half-Greek/half-Turkish admiral in Ottoman Navy who had this reddish beard and his nickname of same meaning stuck, sometimes in the form Barbaros.
'Red Beard' bean - #190, by Mighty Beanz collectibles originally by Moose Enterprises in Australia. The beans are small ovaloid capsules with small metal ball inside to cause movement. Each bean is decorated by a likeness such as caricatured human being, an animal, or monster, and licensed characters. Some are quite rare, such as this one.

'Red Beard' - the 1st British tactical nuclear weapon. It was an unboosted fission weapon that used a composite core and weighed in at about 1,750 lb (794 kg). It was carried by the English Electric Canberra and the V bombers of the Royal Air Force, and by the Blackburn Buccaneers, Sea Vixens and Supermarine Scimitars of the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. It entered service in 1962 and was withdrawn in 1971.
'Redbeard Bunching Onions' - colorful bunching onions with green leaves and red stalk. Grow about 12 cm long and 1.5 cm in diameter. Popular in Asian countries, easy to grow. Stalks and leaves have tender flavor.
'RedBeard' bar drink - Ingredients for this alcoholic drink are spiced rum, coconut rum, 7-Up, Grenadine.
'The Rare Breed (1966)' - in this movie, actor Brian Keith wears a horrendous fake RED beard and wig for his role as a wealthy cattle baron Alexander Bowen, complete with Scottish accent. Wish I had a photo....
