Proud To Be Red

by Kristi
(Texas)

As a school teacher for 15 years, I can say that I don't see any difference in the behavior of children with red hair and children with blonde or brown or black. I come from a red-headed family. Both of my parents had red hair and my sister and I were born with red hair. Both of my children have red hair.

Growing up, I remember being teased about my hair color and told that I must have a "fiery" temper because of my hair. Today, total strangers will ask if my children have a temper to match their hair. Red heads are wonderful people whose temperament has nothing to do with their hair color.

Redhead who knows!

Hi Kristi -- wow, I really appreciate you sharing about your family and teacher experience on this subject. After reading what you had to say, I think you should know if redheads act different based on hair color! Redhead yourself and in your family, and seeing kids of different hair color in school as a teacher -- okay, I think you would have noticed a pattern somewhere if there was some truth to the stereotypes, don't you!

Your story about strangers commenting to you about tempers and behavior because of the red hair sounds familiar, as we dealt with that as well with our own redhead kids. People could be pretty insensitive and unkind...but many were nice as well.

By the way, your family sounds so blessed and beautiful! If you ever want to submit a family photo of all those redheads, would love to see it...(Click on "Your Photos" tab if interested)

Appreciate your input! Thanks for visiting...:)
