Mrs. Peckins (Pileated Woodpecker)

by John Pierce Jr.
(Sanford, FL)

Mrs. Peckins

Mrs. Peckins

Having a red-head wife I must admit that I am enamoured by the bright red "spiked feathered hair" of the Pileated Woodpecker. I do, however, wonder about two things:

1) What Clairol color number does Mrs. Peckins use?
2) Does Mr. Peckins ever ask her for a "peck on the cheek"?

I would think that the latter, while romantic, would be rather dangerous, don't you? (:
