"Watch NHL Hockey. Trust me it will increase your list of red head athletes by over 100 percent. I am a Ginger and proud of it."

"I am a 69-year-old red head. I love my red hair, but hate being called 'Red.' I've heard Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were red headed. Thanks."

"When I was stationed in Okinawa in the USN [U.S. Navy] in 1962 & 1963, the locals called me 'Akabu' - Red Head. Thank you for a great site."

"I'm was a orange/redhead from the get go but at 60 my kids call me dream-sickle because of the white mixing with the red. I got teased a lot until I got to be 15 and strong enough to just about take any verbalized or physical abuse. I've noticed that most people really notice your hair when they first meet you but after a little while you are just like everyone else. You have your own personality and that is what people will remember you by. I think most red-haired people are very unique in their own way. The red-haired temper probably comes from all the teasing. God made red-heads and we may be different but we are one of God's remarkable creation's. I have been a guitarist for 53 years and play almost anything with strings. I've been told that I have a lot of soul by a lot of my friends. Yes! I love blues music! I'm no different than anyone else only RED-HAIRED!

"My family has lots of redheads, all covered with the most glorious freckles! Growing up as a redhead was a bit more stressful than I think most people can really understand, but it turns out it makes for a stronger, sharper adult! At 42 the red is fading to white at an alarming rate, but that's the road we're on! Love being different!"

"I'm 13 and my life is full of red heads. I'm redheaded, my dad is redheaded, both my brothers and my sister are redheaded,
and my girlfriend is redheaded. Almost all of us have problems but all those problems have pulled us together." Michael (United States)
"I am 48 years old now and was a full deep-colored red head when I was a kid. Boy did I take alot of harassment 35 years ago! In fact nobody knew my real name until I was a junior in High school because up til then I was only known as "Red"! Lol. And now I have boy and girl twins both with beautiful red hair. Funny, they get complimented all the time and almost never harassed! Go figure??!! Love it!"

"My redheaded girlfriend is very temperamental. I date a 25-year-old redheaded girl, and when she gets mad it's a scary thing. She's mad tonight and will stay mad for days. There is no reasoning at all...but they get over it after awhile.

"Both my lovely wife and my step son have red hair. It is a challenge and a privilege to live in house filled with red."

"My wife has long red hair and love it. I got beat up in the third grade by a redhead and ever since I've been in love with redheads. I tell my wife all the time that Eve was a redhead. I just love it."
Anthony H. (United States)
"I am 29 years old and been a redhead since the day I was born. I started my childhood of as an ugly duckling and hated my red hair. Then as I got older my physical features started to change, but my heart stayed the same and started to realize that I was blessed to have red hair and help make an example of the new face and idea towards redheads...and that's what I plan on doing."

Regarding the Iranian Embassy Seige - Just an off-the-cuff comment I heard from the former PM Maggie Thatcher's husband Dennis, during the Iranian Embassy siege in 1980 -- "All I remember when the SAS were planning the raid on the Embassy was being in a room surrounded by scary red headed men."
I would like to add my own experience of this -- I was in the Special Forces for 5 years at the start of the 1990's. We were all elite specialists. We came from a wide variety of backgrounds and were considered among the best in the world -- in my entire unit I was the only one that was not a redhead...but my children are. Bill (U.K.)
"I'm 24 and in the U.S. Army as an artilleryman, which is fitting since red is traditionally associated with artillery! Been to Iraq, so you can imagine the 110 degree heat and I didn't get along! .... I never got picked on in elementary or middle school, but I was a sophomore in high school when the "South Park" episode about gingers came out and I started to get harassed. My advice to any teens going through it: just take it with a grain of salt and fight fire with fire if you have to (pun intended)! :) ......"
