Whether I was competing for England, Northern Ireland, Britain and now Ireland, I get called "Ginger" when out either training or racing. The faces on those who call me "Ginger" when I turn around and shout, "I'm a Strawberry blond." If out and about I thank them for pointing out the obvious and tell them that I will check in the mirror to ascertain to what they have said. When I was teaching I told the kids about famous redheads, including Ghengis Khan- so be careful when calling someone "Ginger." I do all this with a big smile on my face. You have to laugh.
