Gingers

by Nicole
(England)

Once my cousin got asked by his teacher, "Does he feel pain?" because she heard on the radio they don't. He had such a great answer. He was like, "Well I guess so miss but never been shot but when I do I'll tell you if it hurt" (jeese).

I love gingers personally and I don't know why people point them out. I think it's very horrid. They're just like blondes and brunettes and every other hair colour and I wish people would understand that.

Embrace your gingerness!
by: ginger person

I'm a 13-year-old girl and I have ginger hair like my brother and even one of my pet guinea pigs. I got so badly bullied at school in year 7 I used to go home and cry and not go out my room, but when I finally told a teacher she talked to the people who were bullying me then it stopped and I could be happy again, although even my (so called) friends tease me occasionally. They think it's only a laugh but really it hurts. I have talked to them but they don't really listen. I used to hate being ginger and freckly but now I try to embrace my gingerness and just get on with life and be proud of who I am.

Look, I am a ginger, a pure redhead, and we have feelings... we are just like everyone else like when we get mad at something any other person would get mad about it. And people just single us out way too much. It's just insensitive and completely uncalled for. I hate it when people say, "What are you so worked up for? It's not anything bad." But if the same thing had happened to them they would be just as worked up. So people need to take a step back and realize that it hurts more than they think it does.

I love gingers too!

Reply by Deb at RR: Hi Nicole and thanks for your comments and story about your cousin. I agree with you that hair colour shouldn't be such a big deal. I think gingers are probably picked on and teased more there in England/Ireland than here in America...seems ridiculous and I don't know why. I think people are taught to dislike others in a culture sometimes. Anyway, really glad you wrote in. Hope your ginger cousin knows he's gorgeous and tell him about my site.
