Ginga...

Hello :D I'm a 15-yr-old girl, with AUBURN hair. People mainly call me ginger but I have to say there are many types of ginger. It annoys me when people call me carrot top or so because my hair is Dark red not bright. The reason red heads have a temper is because we have been teased our whole lives!!! I'm proud to have what is deemed as "red head temper" it makes me feel unique. My friends describe me the way they describe my hair. Fiery and Unique.

I feel sad

I am 15 years old and I have a tint of strawberry-blonde. I also have freckles. I am made fun of, or commented on, in school once or twice a week about my hair. I gel my hair every day because I'm self-conscious. I'm athletic and I'm the goofy, funny kid that, for the most part, everyone knows. Once I get over each comment, another comes up. I want to be at ease with what I am, but I feel like I can't. I am also called names like ginger, carrot top, etc. And more (inappropriate) names like fire-crotch, which isn't true. I feel like no matter what I do, I'm just not good enough to please everyone and I shouldn't have to. I don't know what to do. How do you, or anyone you know, get through it day after day? You probably won't reply but if you can, I would appreciate it.

Reply by Deb at RR: Hi Ken...so sorry to hear you are having a rough time. SO many other redheads write in with similar stories so you're not alone! Might help to read "Advice from other redheads" on my "Teasing" navbar pages, plus other stuff on the site. It WILL get better...be yourself and don't believe what people say. Be proud of who you are... Glad you wrote in!

Hi Jessica, I agree - you should be proud of the colour of your hair. My son says his is orange (it is really - have a look at the photo page) and the number of people who comment they would spend a fortune for that colour hair is amazing - I love the fact that he has "orange" hair :-)
One of my main concerns is that he will be teased at school for it, but surprisingly he isn't.
Just think of it that those who tease are just being jealous - be proud of who and what you are!!

I agree you ARE unique and of course beautiful as a redhead. I'm a mom of 2 redhead daughters and of course think ALL redheads are awesome. Keep being proud of who you are and how God made you.
