Ricky Carmichael (born 1979) A former championship motocross racer, now retired from that sport, who has now begun stock car/NASCAR racing! The talented redhead has won more motocross championships than anyone, as well as winning nearly every race he had entered. This famous athlete is highly respected and has many loyal fans. He is known as the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time). (Thanks to Luke!)

Ryan Villopoto (born 1988). This red-haired young athlete is an up-and-coming motocross and supercross champion. Since 2006, he's won several major supercross titles and is considered by some to be the next 'Ricky Carmichael' of the sport...a redhead to watch! (Thanks to Luke!)
Tyler Farrar (born 1984). This redhead American professional cyclist was born in Wenatchee, Washington, USA, but has adopted Ghent, Belgium, as his home town (and is fluent in Dutch). He continues to do well in tours internationally and is considered one of the sport's hottest new sprinters.
Matt Murton (born 1981). Formerly playing for Georgia Tech, this athletic redhead baseball player has played for American pro Major League Baseball teams -- Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs. In 2009 he joined Japan's Nippon Pro Baseball team of Hanshin Tigers as an outfielder, and in 2010 he broke the record set by Ichiro Suzuki of the most hits in a season (214 in 144 games). Adoring fans use the Japanese word "akage" (redhead) to describe his red hair (rare in Japan!). (Thanks to Evan M!)
Rusty Staub (born 1944). This redhead famous athlete was an American Major League Baseball player (1st baseman, right fielder, designated hitter). Over his 23-year career, he played with 5 different teams: Houston Colt .45s, Houston Astros, Montreal Expos, New York Mets, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers. Also a humanitarian, was a TV announcer, ran 2 restaurants, a chef and wine connoisseur, and even wrote a children's book "Hello, Mr. Met."
Justin Turner (born 1984). Talented redhead Major League Baseball player nicknamed "The Machine." He's played baseball in high school and college, then moved up to the Cincinati Reds' Rookie League affiliate, the Billings Mustangs. He's since played for the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets.(Thanks to Karmin!)
Paula Findlay (born 1989). Tough competitive redhead Canadian triathlete who grew up in Edmonton and as of July 2011 she's ranked the world's No.1 female triathlete. Her fierce competitiveness and ambition has brought a breakthrough year and she's looking toward the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

Roy Halladay (born 1977). American Major League Baseball pitcher, nicknamed "Doc" (referring to "Doc" Holliday from America's Wild West era). Born in Colorado, he began his career with the Toronto Blue Jays in the amateur draft and then promoted to the major leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies. This talented pitcher has won numerous baseball awards in addition to pitching the 20th perfect game in MLB history in 2010. (Thanks to Ken!)
Steve Hooker (born 1982). This handsome redhead famous athlete from Australia is one of the top pole vaulters in the world. He won a gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, not only setting a new Olympic record but becoming the 1st Australian male gold medalist in track and field in 40 years. He won gold in 2009 World Athletics Championship (Berlin), in 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships, and 2010 Commonwealth Games. [His mother was a 1972 and 1978 Olympian, and his father competed in 1974 Commonwealth Games.] He's a pleasure to watch! (Thanks to Dale!)
Andy Dalton (born 1987). This talented natural redhead is an American football quarterback. Formerly played football at Texas Christian University (TCU), leading his team to victory in the 2011 Rose Bowl. He joined the Cincinnati Bengals when they signed him during the 2011 National Football League draft. His name made the media during the 2011 NFL draft when certain coaches/scouts questioned whether being a redhead would affect his athletic performance (See link to the 04/28/11 ESPN article on my "Genes" page.) - again showing the stereotypes about redheads!

Travis Lulay (born 1983). Born in the USA, this talented redhead is a football quarterback (American and Canadian teams). He played college football then the played with the American teams of New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks. More recently he's joined the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League where's he's won several Player awards.
