Danny Kaye (David Daniel Kaminsky) (1913-1987). World-famous American Academy Award-winning actor, singer, dancer, and comedian...and even an orchestra conductor. He had his own radio show in the mid-1940s 'The Danny Kaye Show' and later had his own TV show of the same name in the 1960s. Known for his ability to sing tongue-twisting songs and even making the reserved British audiences laugh hysterically.
There's some confusion about whether this famous actor actually was a natural redhead or not, as his hair was dyed blonde per movie mogul Samuel Goldwyn's wishes. However, Danny was a redhead, according to excerpts from Martin Gottfried's biography 'Nobody's Fool' -- ..."[Danny] was the only redhead [at grade school]...For Kaye, the red hair might have been one source for what he became - a cause as well as a symbol of his difference."..... "Indeed, 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' was good and popular despite Kaye's hair having been restored to it's natural Jewish red." Also, in the 1996 PBS "American Masters Series" documentary Danny Kaye: A Legacy of Laughter," the subject of his red hair is mentioned repeatedly.
