My two kids and I have red hair and people often come up and touch our hair. They have both gotten used to it, but it freaks me out. I'm amazed that people think this is appropriate." --READERS?? FROM THE e-MAIL BAG: Debbie B., from PA, USA, recently wrote in: "More soccer fouls called on the redhead? -- I'm beginning to believe that my son (age 10) gets singled out everywhere because he's the one that everyone can identify quickly in a bunch. It's a particular problem with soccer. He's a great player but disproportionately gets called for fouls more than other (equally aggressive) players....SO, we are planning on doing an experiment and dyeing his hair brown for a game to see if he has fewer fouls called. I will hate to see his gorgeous red hair colored any other color but we'll make sure that it's a wash out/temporary color. Has anyone else seen this?" --READERS?? FROM THE e-MAIL BAG: Josue, from Brasil (Brazil), recently wrote about 'Racial prejudice against redheads' = "I don’t understand what the explanation for racial prejudice against redheads in Europe. In my country, Brasil, blonde women, for example, are not as valued as the redheads. We have colonies of Germans, Italians, polonezes Russians and others. So, the natural red hair is so unusual ... What is more appreciated your beauty than women with other hair colors. Even Brazilian women dye their hair with the most varied colors redheads: from a deep burgundy through burnt orange to bright copper. And me who live in the Third World? In my country redheads are much observed by the people, but look with respect, admiration and sometimes with a little envy. God bless the redheads. And, especially your beautiful women. Excuse me for grammatical errors. Sincerely, Josué, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, South América."
--THANK YOU Josué! Is wonderful to hear there are places where redheads are admired and enjoyed!
