Cartoon Characters With Red Hair

Cartoon characters were traditionally drawn by hand but now the trend is computer-generated cartoons. These great cartoons appear in animated films or TV series, but many also have their own comic books and/or also appear in comic strips.

There are actually quite a few characters that are red heads (gingers) with red hair or just 'red' . Unfortunately, due to strict copyrights on their images, the actual cartoon character may not be shown, however.

Ratatouille (movie)	One of the main characters is a red-haired human named Alfredo Linguini (voiced by actor Lou Romano). In this 2007 Pixar movie, the real main character is a rat, Remy, who wants to be a chef by using the redhead boy Alfredo. (Barnes&Noble.com)
Red-Headed Baby (cartoon short)	A black and white Warner Bros. (Merrie Melodies) cartoon short called "Red Headed Baby" from 1931, with music score by Frank Marsales. The story involves a cute redhead doll who, along with the other toys, comes to life after the toymaker leaves. The cartoon title is also the theme song as well. Robin Hood (movie)	The main character, a red fox, Robin in Disney’s 1973 animated movie classic, ’Robin Hood’.
Rugrats (series)	Also from "All Grown Up" sequel. American animated TV series for Nickelodeon about 8 babies and a dog. -- Chuckie Finster - best friend of Tommy Pickles, he has red hair. Often says" Maybe this isn't such a good idea, Tommy!" and "We're doomed, doomed I tell ya!" -- Dil Pickles - joined Rugrats in 1998 as infant and barely any hair, but in sequel "All Grown Up" at about 9 yrs. he has red hair like his mom.
Scooby-Doo' (series and movie)	Daphne Blake - Lovely redhead teen in animated series ’Scooby-Doo’. Also a DC comic book.
Shrek (movie)	The DreamWorks 2001 computer-animated movie ’Shrek’ won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, with multiple sequels and books. Ginger cartoon characters include: -- Princess Fiona - A red-haired ogre who wasn’t always an ogre and ends up falling in love with the main character, Shrek, a green ogre. -- Dragon - A large red-scaled Dragon -- Puss-In-Boots - Feisty tiger cat with orange-brown fur. Sid the Science Kid (series)	This is Muppets creater, Jim Henson’s animated TV show for preschoolers on PBS Kids. It’s about 5-year-old Sid and his friends and has several redheads: -- Gabriela - A cute redhead with pigtails -- Gerald - Has a dark orange Mohawk hairdo -- Baby Zeke - The 10-month-old redhead baby brother of Sid -- Grandma - Also a redhead
SpongeBob SquarePantes (series)	Mr. Krabs - Red crab on animated TV series seen on Nickelodeon ’SpongeBob SquarePants’ about an bright yellow sea sponge. Mr Krabs is SpongeBob’s greedy boss and owner of the undersea diner, ‘The Krusty Krab.’
Squirrel Boy (series)	Seen on the Cartoon Network, animated series about boy and his squirrel -- Andy Johnson - the 9-year-old redhead boy -- Rodney J. Squirrel - a red squirrel, belongs to Andy
Strawberry Shortcake (series and movies)	Red-haired little girl character owned by American Greetings cards and later grew to include dolls (scented hair to match their character), posters, Strawberry Shortcake books by various authors, and eventually a cartoon series and movies. Very cute with friends and their animals, although lots of changes and franchises over the years.
Superman: The Animated Series	Seen on the Disney Channel, is cartoon series based on the Superman stories. Jimmy Olsen - redhead photojournalist, close friend of fellow reporter Lois Lane, and friend of Superman (aka Clark Kent). A redhead in the comic books too.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (movie)	Quasimodo - The red-haired hunchbacked man who is the main character in DISNEY’S 1996 animated movie ’The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ and it’s sequel. (Barnes&Noble.com)
The Lion King (movie)	Scar - The menacing, villainous orange-brown lion in Disney’s wonderful Academy Award-winning animated movie ’The Lion King’. Voiced by Jeremy Irons.
The Incredibles (movie)	A fun computer-animated film about superheros by Disney and Pixar. -- Syndrome - A red-haired boy named Buddy Pine wants to be a superhero, called ‘Incredi-Boy,’ like the main characters in the movie but they reject his help. He then unfortunately becomes the movie villain and renames himself ‘Syndrome’ and sports flame-like wild orange/red hair. -- Elastigirl - the mom, Helen Parr, has short auburn hair. The Little Mermaid (movie)	A 1989 Disney animated movie based on the fairy tale by author Hans Christian Andersen. -- Sebastian - Red lobster who is King Triton’s advisor. -- Ariel - Beautiful mermaid with long red hair who is the 7th daughter of the sea king, Triton. Definitely one of the favorite redhead cartoon characters! Ariel is also presented on a US postage stamp. (Barnes&Noble.com)
