Canadian Ginger

Hello :) I am proud to say I have never dyed my hair from its natural red color-- even though I struggled as a child and teenager with the common stereotypes and outrageous nicknames which made me consider changing its color status.

When I was a pre-teen, kids were more or less afraid of me because they associated red hair with witchery. I have always been a bit of a rebel, and lived each day to the beat of my own drum-- which I have apologized numerous times to my mother now that I am 25.

I pulled through my younger years eventually by discovering certain passions I had, like music, dogs, hiking, and certain sports. I have always embraced the fact that I am different in many ways from other people (especially girls), but my passions have lead me to meet people in life that I will always cherish and whom adore the pizzaz and unique take I have on life!!

One of my best friends is a redhead also, and we both share the passionate nature. As for the temper, we can both back up our arguments and do not flare our tempers without reason! I, myself, do not get angry easily (anymore), as I have learned to control it, but when my temper climaxes, it scares even me haha (this is rare though haha).

I love to make people feel wonderful about themselves, and strive to help them find their own passions which define them and make them happy in their lives. I am an adoring friend, and I will do everything I can for my friends. I am pretty spontaneous, and unconsciously seek activities that give me an adrenaline rush, but I only do this because I do not want anything to hold me back from experiencing life.

Every redhead is unique and lovely, and should love their rare and wonderful characteristics :)

Reply by Deb at RR: Hi Kelsey -- really enjoyed reading about your 'journey' growing up as a redhead (mentioning your mom in this!), surviving the struggles and stereotypes, finding yourself and embracing who you are, and loving life as a redhead. I hope your story will encourage other younger redheads out there and spur them to love who they are, how God made them, and love life... thanks for sharing with us and words of advice and encouragement!
